Head of House: Mr Lyons

Welcome to the Kett House! Now in our third full year together we have really made a mark on the school. This is reflected in the attitude of the man that our house is named after, Robert Kett. Known for the heroic uprising Kett’s Rebellion, he led the peasants all over Norfolk against the rich robber barons who had taken their land and left them to starve. This attitude is shown in the house motto of ‘Do More, Say More, Be More’ which was created and voted for by the students in Kett House.

Kett House encourages all pupils to do their best and take part in the many opportunities they have both within and outside the classroom. We have been particularly successful in the various Cook Offs which take place throughout the year and collecting tins for the Dereham Food Bank, along with sports inter-house competitions such as the Hockey, Football and Basketball. It is great to see so many Kett students taking part in in competitions which are always well organised by different departments.

All these opportunities are helped by the excellent Student Leadership we have in our house. This year we have Pearl Williams-Eley and Cameron Biro as Captain and Vice Captain. They are supported by an impressive number of year 11 prefects who all contribute to the positive and welcoming feeling of Kett House. Within all of the 9 forms there are two House Forum Representatives (one from lower school and one from upper school) along with a Form Captain. The House forum members meet with myself once a month to discuss questions the students have about life around the school and how the house can develop further. The Form Captains play an integral role in assisting the form tutor and organising the students within their form during House competitions.

The tutors in Kett have been fantastic in developing and growing our house identity. They take a keen interest in the welfare of our students in every form time but especially during mentoring sessions. All staff and pupils are encouraged to support the house wherever possible and this has been highlighted in the amazing support given to the house on Sports Festival. Our athletes are always a credit to both the school and the house. Being the loudest house helps with cheering them home! A valiant effort this year with a strong 2nd place finish, behind a strong Carter house!

All the Heads of House are incredibly proud to have a fantastic relationship between students from Kett, Cavell, Carter and Fry and hope that this positivity is reflected in all the house activities taking place this year.

I am honoured to be head of a house that includes such a wonderful group of students and tutors who work tirelessly to be everything they can be.

Do More, Say More, Be More!
