Garden Group

Global Action Group: Garden Group

As Global Action Group members we decided we wanted to create a school garden. Why? We wanted to provide a safe environment for wildlife at school and we also thought it would give life and colour to the school. The reason the garden has not been done yet is because the garden has been put on hold. This is because Mr. Horsfield has already put in plans for the area. But as soon as they have finished we will evaluate the area to see how much space we have! This gives you lots of time to come and join us at any Thursday lunchtime. We have been designing a garden and we have asked all the teachers what they wanted in the garden to make your lessons more interesting. Some of the teachers want a pond to encourage frogs and other amphibians. This could be used in Biology to teach you and the rest of the class about habitats and the characteristics of all the different breeds. They also wanted to encourage the ducks so they included a bog garden; this was also to encourage other animals. However the most popular request was to encourage the birds and butterflies. There will be bird boxes put up in the trees and bird tables; that way the birds will come and maybe stay.
