Finding Predicted Maximum Radius & Actual Maximum Radius
The ‘scale bar’ on the ‘Scale Picture’ is
3 light years long. You can use this to
find the length between 2 significant points on the other images.
The significant points that we used were 2 stars and we measured the radius of V838 Mon to the left hand side.
These are indicated on the images
below. You can use these to make
measurements from if you find it easier.
The predicted radius of each echo is found
by adding the number of months divided by 12 that each image is after May
2002. Mathematically this looks like:
