Bob Leamon

“Hi, I’m Bob Leamon.  I’m from the UK but have lived in the USA for a while now.  I’m an EIT science planner for the SOHO spacecraft at the Goddard Space Flight Centre.  At the moment I’m looking at space weather, in particular predicting the severity of effects from coronal mass ejections.”

“My earliest memory of space is of reading about the Voyager flyby when I was 7, I also remember when the TV was wheeled in at primary school for us to watch the first space shuttle launch.  At school my favourite subject was physics and as an undergraduate I did physics at Imperial College.  My post-doc was about the helicity of big things like sunspots and CME’s.  I did my PhD in Delaware, again on physics.  When I’m not working I like to be with my family.  I also referee rugby and enjoy fixing up the house.”
