Steps Towards An Accessible WebsiteA lot of work and effort has gone into ensuring that these webpages are as accessible as possible to as many people as possible. Primarily, all main pages comply with the W3C XHTML 1.1 and CSS standards. This means that pages will be as compatible as possible across a range of web browsers. |
BrowsersNot everyone uses (or can use) Internet Explorer to access the Internet. With this in mind, the main parts of this site have been extensively tested with different browsers on different operating systems:
|
Keyboard NavigationNot all web browsers support keyboard navigation, but most will allow you to scroll the page with the arrow keys, and you can jump between links with the TAB key (and follow the link by pressing Enter or Return). The Backspace key will usually act like clicking the Back button. If your browser supports the necessary functions, you can always return to the site homepage by pressing Alt-H (or Ctrl-H on Mac OS X). Similarly, Alt-I (or Ctrl-I) will take you to the A-Z Index page. |
Text-Only and Audio BrowsingThe main pages of this site have been tested with "Links" - a text-only web browser. Due to the nature of the site, graphics and other visual media play a large part in the content of many pages. However, where possible, text is used to replace images for these browsers. Site users who use screen-reading software should have no problems hearing the correct "layout" of the site pages. |
Visual AdjustmentNeatherd.org uses W3C-compliant CSS. This means that you can configure your web browser to override colours and styles used on the site with your own - useful if you have difficulty reading the text colours or fonts chosen. You can also increase and decrease the size of the text using your browser's font size controls. |
